Field Scanning Driver – San Francisco (Short-Term Contract) About Us As the global pioneer in nature-based smart-city solutions, the employer helps cities around the world become more sustainable and more resilient against climate change. We lead in applying smart city technologies, such as the latest remote sensing and machine learning, to green urban assets. With the employer's cloud-based platform, cities improve the well-being of their citizens through a greener, healthier, safer, and more resilient urban environment while reducing operational costs. We currently operate offices in Budapest, Berlin, Singapore, San Francisco, and Paris. Role Overview The employer is looking for a reliable, safe, and experienced driver to join the employer's team as a Field Scanning Driver in San Francisco. You will safely drive a specialized scanning vehicle equipped with an RTK GNSS system and Mobile Laser Scanners (MLS) to support LiDAR scanning of urban trees across the city. A the employer system operator will be in the vehicle with you, running the scanning equipment and coordinating the survey routes together with you. This short-term, hands-on assignment lets you work with cutting-edge geospatial and remote sensing technology. Assignment Details Location: San Francisco, CA (local candidates only; no relocation, travel, or accommodation provided)
Schedule: 5 days per week, days are flexible
Duration: Starts as early as Wednesday, October 7, 2026, and runs through October 31, 2026
Type: Independent contractor (1099), short-term assignment
Rate: $30/hour (approx. $1,200/week at 40 hours)
Key Responsibilities Safely drive the scanning vehicle through San Francisco streets, parks, and complex urban layouts.
Work together with the onboard system operator to cover the planned survey areas.
Help prepare daily scanning operations.
Help with basic care and setup of the vehicle and scanning equipment.
Handle and transport high-value technical equipment securely.
Communicate professionally with local authorities or traffic control when needed, with full support from the employer's team.
Requirements Must be at least 25 years old
A valid California driver's license (Class C) and a clean driving record
At least 5 years of active driving experience
Very good knowledge of San Francisco streets and traffic
A safety-conscious, responsible, and adaptable driving style
Good English communication skills
Authorization to work in the United States
Nice to Have Good technical sense and interest in learning how to operate field equipment
Experience in professional driving, delivery, rideshare, or field logistics
Experience handling or transporting high-value equipment
A background in technical, transportation, or environmental fields
